MONDAY
DRAWING AND PAINTING
with Susan Manspeizer 11 weeks starting March 31st

Gesture, form, color, and space are explored through all media, augmented by class discussion and individual critique, Still life/model will be used each session. All levels of drawing and painting are encouraged.
PASTEL including portrait

Learn to work in pastels. Subject matter: the figure, the head and still life setups. Includes some classes with models.
SCULPTURE STONE/WOOD
with Natalie Frier – 11 weeks starting March 31st

Find the joy and excitement in carving a form in stone in a congenial atmosphere. Beginning students will be introduced to the tools and process of bringing a sculpture to completion. Advanced students will be encouraged to use power tools. Nonrepresentational as well as figurative methods will be taught with the emphasis on creating three-dimensional shapes. All levels of ability are welcome.

PAINTING LIFE/STILL LIFE/FLORAL
with Max Horbund –11 weeks starting /1:30 pm – 4:30 pm $275
Course covers approaches to painting portrait still life and floral pieces including the chiaroscuro tradition of European masters. Students will be guided through the challenge of realistically representing still life and live models in oil. Many aspects of still life painting will be discussed and illustrated. Discussions on picture composition and creation of atmosphere, sense of mystery, proper preparation of painting materials. Demonstrations and individual critiques.
WATERCOLOR

Landscape and still life used to learn all basic techniques of washes, charging, layering and more. Color theory, value and composition will be covered. Beginners welcome.

THE CREATIVE PROCESS
with Jin Young Koh - 12 weeks starting April 1st

PAINTING LANDSCAPES: INSIDE/OUTSIDE

We will start our landscapes en plein air (weather permitting) and complete them in the studio if necessary.
THE FIGURE FROM BLACK and WHITE to COLOR

PAINTING FROM THE FIGURE

Development of a personal vision through skills in drawing, anatomy, composition and color relationships. Emphasis on painting directly from the figure. Model every session. Analysis of styles of the Masters of Modern Painting from Impressionism to Post Modernism. Individual and class critiques
Photo Shop (Beginner & Mid-level)

Class is designed for the person who wants to discover new digital tools and techniques to paint and retouch photographs and/or paint directly with the computer. Beginning students in afternoon class only.
Laptop with Photoshop CS is required.
DRAWING
with Tom Parkes-12 weeks starting April 2nd
9:30am – 12:30pm $310.
Action/relationship drawing from the very beginning. Learn to draw with a central idea, an action line which holds the figure together and expresses accurately what the model is doing. Learn drawing with an eye to painting the human figure.
DRAWING PORTRAITS FOR BEGINNERS
with Karnig Thomasian – 12 weeks starting April 2nd

Learn the basics of drawing what you see. What ever your media, you must learn to draw. The focus is on charcoal portraits because a good portrait has almost all the shapes and textures that you will find anywhere. Come, join in the discussion. Bring an example of your artwork in any medium.
BASICS OF PAINTING & DRAWING

ALL MEDIA ART
with Johanna Salomon – 9 weeks starting April 2nd

Develop your own style while painting the subject of your choice. Work with your own photos or other objects that interest you. Each student will receive individual attention and instruction in composition, color and developing his/her own style – whether it be realism or abstract.
PHOTOGRAPHY – TECHNIQUE & DARKROOM
with Jim Edmonds – 12 weeks starting April 2nd
7:00pm – 10:00pm $285
Learn how to develop black & white film, make contact sheets, edit, crop and enlarge. Areas covered include: dodging, photograms, solarization, mat and frame types. Special attention given to photographing 3D objects and making slides of flat art work. Develop a personal vision. Students should shoot a roll of (400) Tri-x Black & White film to bring to first class.

PRINTMAKING
with Sylvie G. Covey – 12 weeks starting April 3rd
9:30 - 12:30pm or 12:30pm -3:30pm - $310. All day 9:30 – 3:30 $500.
For all classes add $5. solvent fee.
This class covers the techniques of etching, monoprint, relief, safe photo-etching and digital lithography. All levels are welcome.
WATERCOLOR

LANDSCAPE EN PLEIN AIR
with Peggy Dressel 6 weeks starting May 15th. .

Paint landscapes on location (weather permitting) with watercolor, pastel,or just sketch. Classes will be held at the Center if necessary.
INTERMEDIATE AND ADVANCED WATERCOLOR
with Christine Friedman - 12 weeks starting April 3rd.
10:00am – 1:00pm $285
Develop your own style in this exciting spontaneous medium. Classes stress the importance of design, value and color complements. Salting, scratching, glazing, stenciling, masking, dry brush, wet on wet techniques are introduced. Landscapes, seascapes, florals, still lifes, and water reflections are handled seasonally from photos or actual set-ups.
Note: admission to class with portfolio approval.
OIL PAINTING: STILL LIFE/LIFE PORTRAIT
