Sense • Ability
The stone sculpture studio at ACNNJ is truly a thing apart. For years, students gather here to learn this ancient craft. From this group of colleagues a tradition arose, an exhibition series where the goal was about more than taking in the view of a range of works. This exhibition, Journey through Touch, invited visually impaired gusts to touch sculptural artworks and experience a gallery visit in an expanded way.
This concept remains strong amongst our sculptors, and now we’ve expanded the idea to become a sensory-friendly experiential exhibition, Sense • Ability. Here a range of the public with diverse sensory challenges, as well as the general public, may engage with art in a way that offers increased access and understanding.
Plan to visit and experience the exhibit October 20 – November 3. In addition to large-type signage, braille labels are included. The exhibit is widely spaced and organized to be easily negotiated and enjoyed in a serene setting.
