Sense • Ability

The stone sculpture studio at ACNNJ is truly a thing apart. For years, students gather here to learn this ancient craft. From this group of colleagues a tradition arose, an exhibition series where the goal was about more than taking in the view of a range of works. This exhibition, Journey through Touch, invited visually impaired gusts to touch sculptural artworks and experience a gallery visit in an expanded way.

This concept remains strong amongst our sculptors, and now we’ve expanded the idea to become a sensory-friendly experiential exhibition, Sense • Ability. Here a range of the public with diverse sensory challenges, as well as the general public, may engage with art in a way that offers increased access and understanding.

Plan to visit and experience the exhibit October 20 – November 3. In addition to large-type signage, braille labels are included. The exhibit is widely spaced and organized to be easily negotiated and enjoyed in a serene setting.

Individuals are welcome without appointments during our open hours of Monday through Thursday from 9:30am – 1pm, but encouraged to contact us in advance with any questions or concern regarding accommodation. Please call the office at 201-599-2992 Mon – Thurs from 9:30am to 1pm to learn about appointments, or to arrange a group visit. Feel welcome to reach us through our Contact Form as well.

Find complete information in the Event Tab on our website for the duration of the exhibit.
