NEW! Plein Air Painting (Tuesday/Friday)
The Art Center of Northern New Jersey welcomes you to consider the ever changing experience of ‘open air’ painting. Work with fellow artists in various locations convenient to the Art Center, guided by a prolific and knowledgeable instructor committed to this genre. Meet at the Center for some sessions to critique, discuss, and pinpoint key questions.
This class focuses on plein air painting in oil, however, artists working in other media are welcome, although media instruction will be primarily in oil. Discussions on matters including subject, light, design, and more will be relevant across media. This is a fast moving genre capturing a scene, light situation, and mood in a painting representing the impression of a moment in time.
Most sessions will take place in the field, where we will meet at a location (listed in advance), at 9:30am, weather permitting (no rain/snow/heat wave). Class will last 3 hours including set up and clean up, though you may stay longer. A communication thread will be established to provide location/address two days prior via group text/chat. Locations will be selected where parking is accessible, and will advise on rest room access. Some flexibility to accommodate weather events is expected.
Instructor: S. R. Iyer
Days/Times-
Field sessions: Tuesday 9:30am - 12:30
Studio sessions: Friday 1:30 – 4:30pm
Dates: May 9 (Fri afternoon), 13, 20, 27 (Tues am); 4 sessions
