The Very Basics of Drawing (Wednesday)

$85.00

Drawing opens a world of imagination and expression to all… and anyone can learn how!

Are you curious to learn how basic drawing skills and the building blocks of art can enrich your everyday life?

The Art Center is offering an entry-level class to where anyone can learn the nuts and bolts of how art begins.

Learn about how to study and capture basic shapes, and how shapes make up more complex objects. Discuss the tools and materials that make up the artist’s introductory toolbox. Begin to understand how perspective, light, and volume can be interpreted and how this accessible but critical understanding is a foundational principle in art making. Topics will include the use of color, and continued study of how to plan and create more complex compositions.

Step away from the computer screen and engage the age-old intuitive skill of hand-eye coordination to enrich your visual understanding and begin the artist’s journey.

Designed for beginners and those who wish to rekindle a past interest in drawing, our guide is a retired public school educator with years of experience guiding countless students through these very lessons.

Spaces will be limited in this specially priced introductory course!

Bring a sketchbook of your own. Pencils and basic drawing materials will be provided. If you have any favorite materials, bring them along.

Instructor: George Lutz
Day: Wednesday
Dates:
April 8, 15, 22, 29; 4 classes
Time: 2 hours, 10:00 am - noon
Skill Level: beginner/refresher

$30 membership per year is due at first signup
