Workshop: Kitchen Table Printing with Herrat Sommerhoff (Sunday June 14)

from $40.00

Enter the colorful world of sculptor & painter Herrat Sommerhoff in this Sunday workshop presentation at ACNNJ.

Learn to see found objects and everyday items in new ways, sparking creativity from daily experiences that need not be mundane.

As a practitioner and advocate in found object collage, assemblage & sculpture for decades, Herrat is the consummate guide to recycling objects, considering and valuing each component.

This Sunday afternoon workshop, part 2 of Herrat’s series, focuses on tabletop print making without a press. Use recycled materials and everyday objects to create simple, utilitarian plates, templates and stamps in bold shapes and patterns. Refer to the ethos of NYC art legend Andy Warhol as inspiration for pop art graphics and a blast of color - famous for ingenious graphics, an eye for everyday objects and clever repeat patterns, Warhol was a master of rethinking. Look through that lens to create some dynamic prints and learn techniques you can easily bring home to your kitchen table art projects!

NEW YORK TIMES art critic William Zimmer:
…The work of Herrat Sommerhoff is in the tradition of good old American Dada, a tradition that does not only use found objects in an ironic way, but rather celebrates them. ...Ms. Sommerhoff is one of those artists who regard trash not as an eye sore but as a golden opportunity.”
